Lebanon is a small country located on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea. It is known for its rich history, vibrant culture, and diverse landscapes, from coastal beaches to mountain ranges. Despite its small size, Lebanon has played a significant role in the region's history. One of its most notable contributions is being the birthplace of the alphabet. The Phoenicians, an ancient civilization that lived in what is now Lebanon, developed the first alphabet around 1200 BC, which became the foundation for many modern writing systems. This discovery marked a crucial step in human communication and literacy.
Unfortunately, Lebanon has been facing a refugee crisis for years, followed by an economic crisis that has only worsened over time.
As many (or most) of you know, on October 7, 2023, Hamas attacked the Zionist Entity (Israel), resulting in the death and kidnapping of many civilians, some of whom are still missing. Unsurprisingly, the Zionist Entity responded violently, which is still ongoing and has caused the death of tens of thousands of civilians, mostly children and women.
You might wonder, why am I talking about this? Isn't this article about Lebanon?
You're right. I have the same question. Why is Lebanon related to this?
On October 8 or 9, 2023, Hezbollah started firing rockets from Lebanon into the Zionist Entity because, well, why the hell not!
These morons have dragged an entire civilization into war. They have dragged a country that already had a collapsed economy into war.
For months, the Zionist Entity was responding in "their ways" (assassinations, bombing rocket storages, etc.) and asked Hezbollah to abide by UN Resolution 1701, which obviously they did not.
For context, the Zionist Entity agreed to withdraw from Lebanon after a war in 2006 that lasted for months, based on an agreement to enforce UN Resolution 1701.
UN Resolution 1701 prohibits all armed militias from operating anywhere in all of Lebanon ("no weapons or authority in Lebanon other than that of the Lebanese state"). [Read more]
On the surface, Hezbollah agreed to it, but in reality, they spent the last 20 years building underground tunnels, bases, rocket depots, and increasing their supporters.
Many of our people had to leave everything behind in the south, thanks to Hezbollah.
Many people lost their lives in a war that is not ours.
All of us expected the Zionist Entity to launch a full-scale war and almost begged Hezbollah to stop. These morons thought they were winning (by logic and basic common sense, they were not) and gave no regard for our opinions or requests.
The time has come, and a full-scale war has started. Over 1,000 civilians were killed, including two massive bombings. The first involved 18 tons of explosives to assassinate Hassan Nasrallah (the leader of this terrorist group), and the second involved 83 tons to assassinate his successor, both within less than a week.
We need this to stop. We want this to stop. All we have ever asked for is peace. My parents were born during a war, I was born during a war, and now I am living through a war. It is heartbreaking that this cycle continues for our future generations.
The Zionist Entity brutally murders and kills. They post warnings on X (formerly Twitter), asking our civilians to leave specific areas, even villages, stating that Hezbollah is operating in them and claiming that they will bomb them—just to clear their image in front of the West—then proceed to start airstrikes five minutes later, which is not nearly enough time for anyone to escape.
Asking people to leave entire villages is absurd. They are emptying the south, and causing hundreds of thousands of citizens and refugees to look for shelters or affordable options. Who knows if they will occupy it? These are the same people that killed 30,000+ civilians in Gaza.
My country, Lebanon, needs to be free. It needs to be free from both Hezbollah and the Zionist Entity's threat.
The only reason Hezbollah exists is for war. If there were no war, they would have no reason to exist, so they create one. This terrorist group has assassinated our own people, terrorized us, and smuggled thousands of devices, rockets—you name it—into the country illegally, all while our country was drowning in debt.
The Zionist Entity has never stopped violating 1701, mass murdering, and manipulating.
They don't want to stop. They wanted an opportunity for war, and Hezbollah handed it to them on a silver platter.
Our people want peace. We don't deserve this, and we don't want this.
Hezbollah should surrender all their weapons to the government. Why are they the only party allowed to own weapons? Other parties gave theirs up after the civil war, and Hezbollah should be forced to do the same. Of course, this won’t happen, because, as I said, Hezbollah's only reason for existing is war.
The Zionist Entity should stop entering our territory whenever they please. The West should stop allowing Israel to bomb a group of citizens just because one terrorist is among them. All of this is unacceptable, and it is sad how everyone is turning a blind eye in 2024, the era of technology and social media where everything is supposed to be visible.
I don’t expect much from this article. I just want people who had no idea to know. We want to be heard. We are tired of shady social media, or being forced to stay silent and afraid (terrorized) to speak. We are tired of being called Zionists or traitors when we oppose Hezbollah or someone’s opinion. Lebanon is a country for #FreeSpeech, and it will stay that way. No one can ruin it for us.
If you’ve read up to this point, thank you. I would appreciate it if you shared this to let the world see our pain.
Some people might find parts of this against what they believe. If they don’t know that others have different opinions, that’s their problem. I am writing this article as a person from South Lebanon myself, affected by all of this.
